Please see below details of our current Pupil Premium Strategy (2024-2027).
Pupil Premium
The Pupil Premium was introduced in April 2011 as a specific grant allocated to schools. The funding is based on the school census for pupils registered as eligible for Free School Meals (FSM) from Reception to Year 11. For looked-after children, the allocation is based on the Children Looked After data returns (SSDA903).
A premium is also provided for children whose parents are currently serving in the armed forces. This Service Premium is designed to support the emotional and social well‑being of these pupils.
The Pupil Premium is additional to main school funding. At our school, it is used to address underlying inequalities and ensure funding reaches the pupils who need it most.
Objectives
-
Provide additional educational support to improve progress and raise achievement for eligible pupils.
-
Narrow and close the gap between the achievement of eligible pupils and their peers.
-
Address underlying inequalities between pupils eligible for the Pupil Premium and others, wherever the school has the ability to do so.
-
Ensure funding reaches the pupils who need it most and has a significant impact on their education and lives.
Strategies
-
The Pupil Premium will be clearly identifiable within the school budget.
-
The Headteacher, in consultation with governors and staff, will determine how the Pupil Premium is spent to benefit eligible pupils.
-
The school will assess what additional provision should be made for individual pupils.
-
The school will be accountable for how the funding supports pupil achievement, with the Headteacher reporting to the governing body and parents on the effectiveness of interventions.
-
From September 2012 onwards, the school will publish online information about how the Pupil Premium is used.
-
Parents, governors, and other stakeholders will be kept fully informed about the attainment of pupils supported by the Pupil Premium.
-
The school will continue to develop strategies and interventions that improve pupil progress and attainment.
-
The impact of funded strategies will be tracked to ensure measurable value is added to pupils' education.
-
The school will monitor, evaluate, and review the success of Pupil Premium spending.
Outcomes
This policy plays a significant role in the educational development of pupils entitled to the Pupil Premium. We are committed to ensuring these pupils are treated fairly and supported effectively. The school will use the additional funding to promote the achievement and progress of all eligible pupils.
Through careful use of this funding, we will ensure the individual needs of each child are met. As a result, eligible pupils will make stronger progress and achieve higher standards than would otherwise have been possible.
