A team of passionate volunteers who help guide our school’s strategic direction and champion the best outcomes for all our children.
Our governors bring a wide range of experience, skills and perspectives from across our local community. They work collaboratively with school leaders to provide thoughtful support and constructive challenge, ensuring that our strategic priorities, wellbeing, and educational excellence are always at the heart of what we do. Together, they help shape a learning environment where every pupil feels valued and inspired.
Through their commitment and service, our governors help ensure strong governance, meaningful engagement with families and stakeholders, and thoughtful oversight of the school’s vision for growth and improvement. We are grateful for their time, insight and dedication to our community.

Julie Burkinshaw - Chair
- I have been involved in school governance for many years and I greatly enjoy working with the staff and pupils in the schools and throughout the Trust. I still do regular supply teaching, mainly in the Barnsley area. This means that I keep up to date with themes and trends in education, which helps me to fulfil my governor role as effectively as possible. In my spare time, I enjoy walking and gardening but my favourite hobby is singing as a member of Barnsley singers, a local community choir for which I also have a volunteer role.

Kathryn Holland - Staff Governor
- Kathryn Holland the staff representative for Southey Green Primary School and Nurseries. She is one of the Assistant Heads in the school, leading EYFS and teaching in The Hub. Although Kathryn has only been appointed as staff representative since 2022, she has previously carried out this role for a number of years at another Primary school in the city and has been a member of the Advisory Board at Sharrow Sure Start. Kathryn has two children, both attending schools within TSAT.
